In Grupo Pantaleon, we believe that access to safe drinking water is a fundamental element for people’s well-being. That’s why in 2014, under our Responsible Development strategy, we created the Water for All program at Monte Rosa Sugar Mill, contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 6.

Since then, we have worked with communities in Nicaragua to bring safe and clean water directly to their homes, installing drinking water supply systems and training community members on their use and management to ensure sustainability.

This year, we celebrate the inauguration of a new water system in the Kilometer 9 and 10 communities in El Viejo, Chinandega, providing safe drinking water to 560 people. This project was carried out with the support of the MAS Program of ED&F Man Liquid Products, which seeks to contribute to the development of communities where molasses is produced. Together, in 2020, we also benefited more than 300 people with a drinking water system in the Silvio Castro community.

Between 2014 and 2023, we have improved the quality of life of more than 9,200 people with 18 water projects. Our methodology is comprehensive and participatory; we ensure to work closely with communities and train and empower members of the Drinking Water Committee (CAPs), who are elected by the community, with technical and social tools to efficiently manage the project.

We are committed to promoting community development and work with strategic allies who share our vision.
