We are proud to announce that Novaforest, our forestry division, has obtained the prestigious BASC Safe Trade Certification, making us the first exporting forestry company in Central America to achieve this milestone!
This certification reflects our commitment to safety and transparency in all our operations. It means that our forestry products meet the highest standards of safety and legality at every step of their production and distribution.
Aligned with our vision and purpose, The Pantaleon Group established the forestry division, Novaforest, in mid-2020. Its goal is to manage all the group’s forestry assets under a new administration and business strategy.
Novaforest is an integrated and sustainable Guatemalan agroforestry company, cultivating innovation and marketing certified products from our own renewable resources that preserve biodiversity. During our short management, we have obtained several certifications and received international recognition and awards for promoting sustainable development.
Currently, we manage over 1,700 hectares of renewable eucalyptus and melina plantations, and 1,700 hectares of natural rubber (latex) plantations established on the southern coast of Guatemala. Additionally, we have introduced joint crops, under an agroforestry system, such as cardamom, and we are executing a significant expansion plan.
The entire forestry operation, from the nursery, through plantation management to harvesting and industrial processing, is FSC® certified, a standard that promotes sustainability and adds value to the environment by transforming forest resources with innovation.
